Lonnie Joe Richie, age 81, of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness.

Lonnie Joe was born on October 30, 1934 in Toccoa, Georgia to the late Hubert Richie and Mary Thornton. He was a member of Black Springs Baptist Church and was retired from Reliance Electric Company. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Lonnie Joe is survived by his wife, Odessa Richie of Gainesville, son, Joe Nathaniel Richie of Little Rock, AR, daughter and son-in-law, Peggy And Henry Johnson of Gainesville, daughter, Joyce Allison of Flowery Branch, daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Isaac Milledge of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne Richie Williams and Terry of Gainesville, son, Anthony Richie of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law, April and Randy Coleman of Gainesville, daughter, Angela Williams of Flowery Branch, sister, Jessie Martin of Plano, Texas, sister, Pauline Richie Witt of Plano, Texas, sister-in-law, Shirley Richie of Gainesville, sister-in-law, Ella Jean Richie of Homer, many nieces and nephews, 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild.

Mable Richie was born on June 21, 1934 in Toccoa, Georgia to the late Styles, Sr and Almeda Richie. She was preceded in death by parents; one sister Gladis Rosella Richie, and five brothers James Hurbert, Drake, Jasper, Henry, and Howard.  Mable accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Cleveland CME Church in Toccoa, Georgia.  She graduated from Whitman Hgh School and later moved to Detroit, Michigan where she lived for several years. 
 
Mable later worked at J.P. Stevens as a textile weaver for 28 years before she retired.  She enjoyed singing and playing the piano.  Growing up in a strong Christian home Mable loved note singing and quartet singing. 
 
Mable leaves to cherish her memory three loving daughters, Diane (Jonathan) Rhodes of Bristow, VA, Tawanna (Anthony) McCauley of Greenville, SC, and LaSandra Richie of Spartanburg, SC;  two sisters Lurenia Goodine and Burice Cleveland of Seneca, SC; one brother Styles Richie, Jr of Madison, SC;  Grandchildren: Eavian, Brennington, Gabriel, JuWan, McKenzie, Miracle, Raelan, and Dominic (Lisa) Rhodes of Virgina; one great-grandson Alexander Rhodes of Virginia; honorary daughter Betty (Clarence) Breazeale, many neices, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Johnnie Mae Richie was born August 12, 1959 in Stephens County, and departed this life due to a sudden illness on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. She was a member of the Broad River Baptist Church for many years, and later attended Cleveland CME Church.  She was a graduate of Stephens County High School and served three years in the United States Army.  Later in life, Johnnie Mae resided at Mountain View Health Care in Clayton, Georgia due to an illness.

Johnnie Mae was preced in death by her father, Thomas R. Richie, Sr on October 25, 2014.

Johnnie Mae is survived by her mother, Ethel M. Richie; 6 brothers: Thomas R. (Betty) Richie, Jr.; Walter C. (Karen) Richie, Sr.; George Nathan (Bunt) Richie; Adam Clayton Richie; Bobby J. (Henrietta) Richie; Ross R. Richie; one Uncle James Richie of Toccoa, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Thomas (Ray) Richie, Sr was born on April 2, 1934 in Stephens County, Georgia. He departed this life Saturday, October 25, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.  He was a member of Cleveland CME Church for many years. He was a devoted employee for Henry Green Concrete for many years and Patterson Pump for twenty plus years where he later retired.  He enjoyed playing lead guitar for many church programs, and was a lead guitar player for Cross Roads Male Chorus for four years and S&B Gospel group for fourteen years.

Ray, Sr. was preceded in death by four brothers; Roy L. Richie. Sr., Levi Richie, B.J. Richie, John Jr. Richie; and two sisters; Bricilla Thompson and Grace Banks.

He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy his loving wife of 59 years, Ethel Mae Richie.  One brother, James Richie of Toccoa, Ga; six sons - Thomas (Betty) R. Richie; Walter (Karen) C. Richie, Sr.; Georga (Bunt) Nathan Richie; and Ross R. Richie all of Toccoa, Georgia; and one daughter Johnnie M. Richie of Clayton, Georgia.

Thomas Ray, Sr. had 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren at the time of his death.

Curtis Jackson Scott was born June 7, 1935 to the late Andrew and Alberta Richie Scott. Curtis was called home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2014.  He joined Cleveland CME Church at an early age, serving faithfully until his illness.  He loved his church!!

Curtis worked in Law Enorcement for a total of 43 years.  While in law enforcement, he was able to work through the ranks and become the first black Assistant Chief and the City Marshall.  He was an active member of the group called National Association of Black Law Enforcement (NOBLE).

He leaves to cherish his memories, Claudette Scott - his wife of 58 years.  Four (4) children Berthenia Trotter, Elder Janice Scott, Joel (Kendra) Scott and Kesha Hunter. Also cherishing his memories is one (1) brother, Joe Scott of Alpharetta, Ga;, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Five (5) sisters-in-laws, Laura Ann Scott, Janice (Donald) Byrd, Linda (J.C.) Drinkard, Elaine (Joseph) Teasley and Vicki (Robin) Walker. Brother-in-law Geno (Roberta) Acosta and special cousins, family friend, host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bernard Edward Richie died on Friday, December 6, 2013. Nod, as he was fondly called, was the second of four children born to the late Henry and Barbara Pittman Richie. Bernard was the grandson of Styles and Almeda Richie.  Bernard joined Rogers Chapel Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful employee of the University of Georgia as Grounds Crew Supervisor, a position he held for many years. Bernard also held a PhD in hat wearing, fishing and going to the movies. He had a strong passion for family, friends, and the Georgia "Dawgs".

Curtis Goodine was born in Oconee County to the late Earl and Katrina Manel Goodine.  He departed his life at the Toccoa Georgia Nursing Home.  He was the last survivor of his immediate family.

At an early age he joined the New Promiseland Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a Chairman Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and a member of the senior choir.  He was educated in Oconee County Public Schools and retired from Duke Power in 1985.  He was an Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Bronze Star.  Curtis was a member of Blude Ridge Masonic Lodge #97 of Westminster, SC., and
a local farmer for many years.

Curtis was united in Holy matrimony for 60 years to Lurenia Richie Goodine and to this union, nine children (Richard Odell Goodine, Patricia Butler, Joann Craig, Douglas Goodine, Thomas Earl Goodine, Kenneth Goodine, Gregory Goodine, and Teresa Goodine). One daughter, Gwendolyn Goodine Proctor, preceded him in death.  At the time of death, Curtis had 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Steve Richie was born to Margie Faulkner Richie and the late Joe Richie. He attended and graduated from Banks County High School. Steve is the grandson of Hubert Richie. He joined Homer First Baptist Church at an early age.  He served on the Deacon Board and as Superintendent of Sunday School for a number of years.  Steve had two daughters (Yolinda Faye Richie and Jacqueline Twanette Moon).  At time of death, Steve had five grandchildren.

James Estee Cash, son of the late Henry and Willie Cash was born in Carnesville, GA.  He was the grandson of Beautice Richie. James departed this life at Stephens County Hospital. He graduated from the Whitman Street High School in toccoa, GA. He joined Ellis Chapel CME Church at an early age.

James worked many years for the Patterson Pump Company of Toccoa, GA and was a faithful volunteer at the Toccoa Soup Kitchen where he made many lifelong friends. James personality was very vibrant and he had a wonderful sense of humor and a very generous heart. He was loved by many and those who met him were left with a lasting impression.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 42 years, Marilyn Teasley Cash. He had four children (Vincent Emmanuel Cash, Rhonda Contress Cash, Sherry Renee Cash, and Jameson Eric Cash who preceded his father in death). At the time of his death, James had one granddaughter.

Robert "BJ" Richie was born in Stephens County to the late Flora and Henry Richie. He departed this life at the Toccoa Nursing Center.  He was a member of Cleveland C.M.E. Church and was a faithful member until his health started declining. He worked for Patterson Pump for 25 years.

Robert was married to Gracie Richie. He has three daughters (Joan McCater, Diane Richie, and Annetta Mayes); two sons (Larry Richie, Trampas Richie, and Robert Wilhite who preceded him in death); two stepsons (Michael Hunder and Terry Hunter).  At the time of death, Robert had 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Richie was born to Almeda and Styles Richie of Seneca, SC.  Henry known as "Fuzz" traveled with his musical abilities playing the piano and guitar when he met and married Barbara Pittman Richie and the moved to Athens, GA. Henry had four children (Julius Richie, Bernard Richie Charles Richie and Henrietta Richie Hawes). Henry was a lead guitar palyer for soul singer James Brown for several years. He was an original member of the Lighthouse Singers and former pianist of the Lighthouse Gospelettes. Henry was the musician for the Springfield Baptist Church for many years and the Rogers Chapel Baptist Church for over 44 years. At the time of death, Henry had seven grandchildren.

Pittman, Sr and Irene Law Pittman.  She was  married to Henry Richie and they had four children (Henrietta Richie Hawes, Charles Richie, Bernard Richie, Julius Richie).  Barbara was a member of the Rogers Chapel Baptist Church for many years.  She was the president of the Rogers Chapel Senior choir and the president of the Pastor's Aid. She was an original member of the Lighthouse Gospelettes.  Barbara retired from Wilkins Industries after 33 years.  At the time of death, Barbara had 7 grandchildren.

Herman Jones).  At the time of death, Olivia had one granddaughter.

She was an active member while her health permitted. She was the Church Treasurer, a delegate for the Annual Conference, a member of the Stewardess Board and the Missionary Society. She was a member and the pianist for the first Sunday night note singing class held at various churches in the North georgia and Tennessee Convention. She was a volunteer for the Melas on Wheels for over 20 years at the Mabel Scott Senior Citizens Center and the Co-ordinator for the Annual Meals on Wheels program.  Alberta has three children (Curtis, Roberta, and Joe).  At the time of Alberta death, she had 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

The daughter of Curtis and Lurenia Goodine, she was the seventh child of nine children.  Gwen was the granddaughter of Styles and Almeda Richie.  She entered into eternal rest at Oconee Memorial Hospital after a battle with breast cancer. A loving wife and daughter, and a dear sister, she was a member of the Jackson Memorial Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia. Gwen was devoted and faithful in her ministry of music. She was a graduate of music at USC. Beatrice Richie Simpson, age 95, died at Stephens County Hospital. She was born in Franklin County Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Dennis and Ludella Richie. Beatrice joined Cleveland C.M.E. Church at an early age and united in marriage to the late Harrison Simpson.  She later joined Ellis Chapel C.M.E. Church.  While serving as a faithful member, she was affiliated with many auxilaries including the President of Stewardess Board, Sunday School Teacher, and Class Leader for many years. She was also a member of the Community Prayer Band and the Mable Scott Senior Citizens Center as well as a good homemaker.  Beatrice has six surviving children (Bessie Simpson, Emma Jo Simpson, Lois Keye, Undine Keye, Mary Teasley, and Willie Cash).  At time of death, Beatrice had 35 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren, and 33 great-great-grandchildren.

She was the daughter of the late Jessie and Minnie Cherry Drake and a member of  Cleveland CME Church in Toccoa, GA.  Almeta married Styles Richie, Sr and they had 9 children (Jasper, Lurenia, Howard, Mable, Henry, Burice, Styles Jr., and two children preceded them in death Steve Drake and Baby Gladis Rosella who died at one year old.  At time of death, Almeda had 23 granchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
